December 2008

The last time I baked was in my lower secondary school days. I’ve not mixed flour ever since. AND I’M GONNA DO SO AGAIN TONIGHT! Yes, I’m going to BAKE! And for Reid, no less. :)

Don’t worry he doesn’t read blogs so I’m not afraid he’ll see this and ruin my surprise. He suggested we cook for each other for our anniversary. And that’s what I’m gonna make him – a cupcake. If he makes me a muffin I’ll just faint. Hahaha. There are special meanings behind cupcakes and muffins for us but it’s a secret between us so I can’t say anything!

Anyway I’m really excited. So I’m gonna go home soon, put my stuff down and go buy INGREDIENTS! I’m also thinking of doing a little special something for him to end the year. Ha, ha, ha… I love thinking ’bout such stuff. I’m quite confident that I’ll be able to come up with something from nothing. Something… GOOD.

Second last day of 2008. Three more days to our official first year anniversary. :) We’re gonna do what we do best to celebrate – have a picnic. Hahaha… At Fort Canning Park no less! I have a pretty image that keeps playing over in my mind… Us, sitting on a picnic mat in the middle of the spacious, green, grassy park with a delicious spread of food lain out before us… The trees are sparse and the cool, light breeze filters through them, teasing our hair and cajoling us to laugh along with it. The sky above us is clear and the sun is shining down on us – not harshly, but just enough for a touch of warmth… The kind of warmth that makes you drowsy and peaceful… The kind of warmth you get on a lazy afternoon… :) Ahhh…

2008, just quickly end all right?

When 1 Jan 2009 comes, everything will take off from then. IBP will very soon come to an end. Right now, I just hope and pray that nothing goes wrong from here on. Especially, may I repeat, especially, with the SGEM campaign. Let it go well… Please. I’m glad IBP is ending soon. I’m glad I’m graduating soon. I’m glad for a change that is to come. It’s not entirely that I’m tired of poly life. In fact, I’m really glad for a handful of friends I can well, call friends. It’s just I feel I’ve gained enough these three years to move on to something greater.

By the way, the new canteen beside the Film & Media Studies block is opened and it’s AWEEEESSSOOOME. I have yet to checked it out but from what I hear from my friends, it’s just amazing. It’s humongous, and IT HAS SUBWAY. Like the full fledged Subway store. And what’s best is the prices are cut down. And this American fast food joint called Hungry Jack, and a waffle place and much much more. I MUST CHECK IT OUT TOMORROW. Omygoodness. Subway, just a few metres a way.

Christmas passed by all too quickly. Well, at least there’re still eight days to go… BUT YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. The atmosphere… I WANT MORE OF IT! Tomorrow, it’s back to school. Back to internship. Back to work. Back to meeting deadlines and endless planning and seeing to the needs of people we work with.

That aside – why is wordpress so laggy – this year is coming to an end. Like I said before, I like it when a year comes to an end. ‘Cause it gives me something to look forward to. Kind of like hope for a better future. Every year, I hear and read about people saying how much “this year sucks” and that they “hope next year would be better”… And then when that next year comes and ends, they say the same thing of it sucking and hoping the NEXT year would be better. What they might not have realised is that they have been saying the same thing for the past decade. The thing is, we decide if we want next year to be good or not. And at the end of it, we decide whether despite all the disappointments and failures, if we would still count our blessings. Look at it this way, even if you can’t find anything to be happy about for this year, at least, I’m sure, there are lessons we have learnt from whatever disappointments and failures we have gone through. And definitely, all these lessons would have made us wiser and more mature. And isn’t that something to be glad about? That we can learn and not commit the same mistake twice? Or that we can grow to become a better person? Take heart, my friends… Every year can be a good year. :)

As for me, I’ve had my fair share of a whirlwind of emotions. I’ve felt immense disappointment, sadness and confusion all at once, I’ve felt white hot anger and I’ve felt fear and doubt taunting at me… But above all these, what I remember feeling most is Love. :) I found my eternal love and best friend (actually I found him last year, but it’s ok just read on) and we’ve felt the realness of God’s promises in our lives. And we know it’s just the beginning…

This year, I’ve realised things about myself that I never knew existed. Some make me smile, some make me laugh, and some I know I must change. So, let 2009 be a year of change for better things. Don’t look back! The past is gone… He’s left and he can’t hurt you anymore! The future is beckoning… He wants you to have a grrrreat year. Catch up with him soon!

So with this, 2008, in you go into my heart to be kept as memory. I’ve been very blessed this year… Very blessed…

I can’t believe it (no, actually I can). I walked into the office today at 12pm (I was late ’cause I had to get an important notebook I accidentally left with Reid the night before) and the only person in the office was Ashley. Well, not counting the client she was talking to. It’s now 1.15pm and there are… Wait, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 people in the office. 9am to 1.15 is 4 hours 15 minutes. That roughly means one person arrives every 51 minutes.

Haha. I guess everyone’s in the holiday mood. Well you can’t blame us – everyone in school is on holiday (even the lecturers are clearing leave!) except for us. ‘Cause we’re having our attachment and there’s no such thing as taking leave. Bahh.

Anywayyys. I just tried the chicken chop rice from the SIM foodcourt and it’s dammmmn good! I feel like buying another one (just the chicken chop) but that’s a bit glutton-ish. I’ve been getting hungry easily recently. :|

Christmas is in A WEEK’S time. Church is having a wonderful candlelight service during the weekend and a drama production (gonna be very very good, as usual) over Christmas eve and the day itself. So anyone who hasn’t been to a candlelight service before, let me tell you – it’s breathtakingly beautiful. When the lights go off and the only light comes from the single candle held in each person’s hand, the sight is to behold. The peace that falls upon the entire place… Is something not to be missed. And the drama – need I say more? It’s guaranteed to make you laugh, cry and smile, all in the span of less than an hour. So if you’re intereted, I’ll be more than happy to take you along. :)

HA! I just thought of a good idea. I shall leave early today and go get materials for Reid’s present. :D

OH AND I JUST RECEIVED MY CHEQUE FROM SPH!!! I’m sooo glad. Thank God He’s given me enough to tide through this season. More’s to come, I’m sure. :)

It’s a good thing I brought my book. I’m going to read it. Toodles!

P.S. You must have a look at this photo!

This cracks me up allll the time. I know I look like I’m strangling him – while smiling – but I’m WASN’T! I merely went behind him, put my arms around his neck and snapped. And just as I did, he YAWNED! And the photo turned out like this. Hahahaha. It does look like I’m choking him and he’s yelling and struggling while I’m just smiling away and enjoying the moment. Let me repeat, I’m wasn’t. Hahahahaha…

(We were at Vivo taking photos with the Xmas decos. More photos on my FB)

Had the best weekend! Attended Kat and Fadyl’s wedding and gosh, it was amazing. They really felt and looked like royalty. :) I am so so so happy for her. And boy, you can’t imagine the excitement I had, sitting in her living room, listening to her husband say his vows, loud and clear for all to hear, and seeing her sitting by the entrance of her room, tearing and smiling like the happiest woman on earth. :)
And so looked SOOO gorgeous!!! Love her makeup and outfits…

CONGRATULATIONS!

agency

Today was fun. Went down to Bukit Timah Plaza with Nitha and Ashley to get Christmas gifts for Mr Tay. We’re glad he likes ‘em. :) He’s one patient and inspiring teacher, he is. The Agency is fortunate to have him maaan.

So, I just realised something. I’m turning 20. In a month’s (from yesterday, the 8th) time. I’m… Not really looking forward to hitting the big 2’s! I still feel young inside. Hahaha. Once you hit 20, there’s no turning back to your teenage years. The years during which you’ve learnt and grown the most.

I know this was gonna be a reflective post but I just felt like talking about turning 20. And like all other birthdays I’ve had, I’ll just have a simple celebration. It won’t even be like a celebration if you’re talking about having lots of food, music, and tons of people. I’ll just have a few simple meals with the people close at heart. And with that, I’ll happily turn 20.

:)
